Job Title: Fabrication Shop Helper                                                Summary:

FlexDecks, Inc. is a pioneer and leader in the design and manufacture of innovative, modular maintenance platforms for the most technologically advanced military aircrafts in the world. We are a small, team oriented manufacturing company where everyone can make a difference.

As part of the Fabrication Team, this position plays an important part in producing maintenance platform components, while ensuring proper form, fit & function of an overall quality product. The Fabrication Shop Helper basic job responsibility is to assist welders, assemblers, and other team members as needed in the fabrication shop.  We are looking for a reliable, thorough, and attentive individual with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn new skills and act with initiative.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to receive/read, and understand specific instructions, basic drawings, work orders, and/or cut lists, and action to completion
  • Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder.
  • Ability to keep work areas clean and clutter-free.
  • Willingness to learn machine/equipment operation, safety and preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge & Use of common material handling equipment and their safe operation:
    • Forklifts, Overhead cranes, Pallet-jacks
  • Knowledge & Use of common power tools and their safe operation:
    • Metal working/beveling tools, Abrasive cleaning tools, Angle grinders, Hand drills, Impacts, Wrenches, etc.
  • Knowledge & Use of common industrial processing tools/types and their safe operation:
    • Band saw, Table saw, Miter saw, Drill press, Manual mill/lathe, Ironworker – notching and punching
  • Additional knowledge of industrial processing tools/types desirable but not required:
    • Torch (plasma), Up-cut saw, and Shear
  • Knowledge and experience processing different material types and grades desirable but not required, i.e., carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (6061 / 5052, etc,.).
  • Ability to communicate in English required, both written & verbal skills.
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time within a noisy machine and fabrication shop environment, in temperatures, as well as humidity, that fluctuate in accordance with the season.
  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment and comply with safety rules and policies at all times.
  • Walking long distances and climbing stairs is required within the office and shop areas.
  • This position requires turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, waist, legs, wrists, fingers, as well as functional hearing, vision, and voice (English).
  • This position also requires ability to safely lift (bend ones knees) up to 50 lbs.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Familiarize, understand, and use all standard operating procedures determined by manufacturer and FlexDecks in relation to material processing equipment.
  • Ensure that product standards, both quality and quantity are met.
  • Interpret dimensions, material types, and material grades on cut lists or drawings.
  • Familiarize and understand all FlexDecks employment policies such as work hours / days, drug screening, safety guidelines, and all policies outlining employee behavior on shop floor.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and further development and maintenance of a cohesive team-oriented work environment with all employees, vendors, and customers and support the company in all decisions.
  • May be asked by management to perform other tasks beyond those listed.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Experience: One plus (1+) years in a manufacturing environment, i.e., mechanical, technical, construction, and/or machining experience. Specifically, operating shop related equipment, hand tools, and processing material by basic mechanical / machine means.

Additional Information:

  • Compensation based on experience. Range $13.00-$15.00 per hour
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol and background screens

Job Title: Assembler/Installer

Summary:

The Assembler/Installer assists in performing advanced assembly of maintenance platform components according to specific instructions and established procedures ensuring proper form, fit, function, and overall product quality. The Assembler/Installer is expected to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and hydraulic systems. The Assembler/Installer is expected to provide direct and in-direct support as part of the installation teams in the field, as well as travel & perform onsite field assemblies as required.

Qualifications:

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of maintenance platforms.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and written work instructions, as well as comprehend the design intent conveyed through those documents.
  • Assist with product verification testing and record results.
  • Receive, unload, unpack, and transfer work material to and from appropriate work stations.
  • Accurately pull and stage hardware for projects.
  • Basic electrical experience & ability to install electrical systems.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area. Keep track of material and keep work area organized.
  • Willing to travel for onsite installations/assemblies (50%+ travel & over weekend travel possible).
  • Willing to work possible overtime & weekends.
  • Knowledge & use of common material handling equipment and their safe operation:
    • Forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet-jacks
  • Knowledge & use of common power tools and their safe operation:
    • Metal working/beveling tools, abrasive cleaning tools, angle grinders, hand drills, impacts, wrenches, etc.
  • Knowledge & use of common industrial processing tools/types and their safe operation:
    • Band saw, table saw, miter saw, drill press, manual mill/lathe, Ironworker – notching and punching
  • Ability to identify structural materials such as channel, I-beam, flat bar, etc.
  • Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder.
  • Knowledge of basic to average math
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

  • Aptitude for learning, ability to multi-task and problem solve.

Job Title: Structural MIG Fitter/Welder

Summary:

FlexDecks, Inc. is a pioneer and leader in the design and manufacture of innovative, modular maintenance platforms for the most technologically advanced military aircrafts in the world. We are a small, team oriented manufacturing company where everyone can make a difference.

The Structural MIG Fitter/Welder will Perform the operations of fitting, GMAW aluminum welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment and accurately read drawings. As part of the Fabrication Team, this position plays an important part in producing platform components, while ensuring proper form, fit & function of an overall quality product. Prior aluminum welding experience required.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to pass 2G aluminum plate test using GMAW.
  • Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder.
  • Ability to figure angle/pitch from rise & run; basic understanding of angles.
  • Knowledge of common electric/pneumatic power tools and their safe operation:
    • Drills
    • Angle Grinders
    • Die Grinders
    • Wire Brushes/Cleaning Materials
  • Knowledge of common processing tools and material handling equipment related to metal fabrication:
    • Gas Torch
    • Plasma Torch
    • Band saw
    • Overhead Cranes
    • Forklifts
  • Proficiency with aluminum and carbon steel TIG welding a plus and additional knowledge of various fabrication tools & type/methods desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience fabricating different material types and grades, i.e., carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (6061/5052, etc…).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Ability to receive and understand specific instructions and carry out those instructions to completion.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and written work instructions, as well as comprehend the design intent conveyed through those documents.
  • Ability to communicate in English required, both written & verbal skills.

  • Certification(s): Documented welding certifications for GMAW process
  • Experience: Two plus (2+) years in gas metal arc welding (GMAW), i.e., fitting and structural welding experience. Specifically, the fabrication of aluminum wrought alloys of various thicknesses and material grades.

Additional Information: 

  • Compensation based on experience. Range $18.00-$24.00 per hour
